Zechariah 4:6 - So he answered and said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel:
'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the
LORD of hosts."
Hmm... Memory verse for today's young people meeting... A great encouragement indeed.. not only to Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah then, but also to me :) This verse was spoken in the context when Zerubbabel had led a group of Israelites back from exile to build the temple of God. Well, after they had laid the foundations for the temple, they faced a lot of adversities and opposition from the neighbouring countries and some 小人 to build the temple of God. So over the time, they gave up building the temple and one would also expect Zerubbabel to be very discouraged about the situation then.
It is then that Zechariah came in and spoke this word of encouragement to Zerubbabel to tell him to be strong and continue on the building of the temple because the LORD will be the one that is building the temple, as clearly stated in Zech 4:6. His Spirit will be there leading, guiding and completing the whole building of the temple.
Hallelujah for such a word! Recently, i had faced a situation similar to Zerubbabel in that i'm feeling quite discouraged about my living in hostel and how the gospel work in NTU is so not prospering and also the fact that I had become slackened in the giving out of gospel tracks and blah blah blah... all these things seemed to be discouraging me and i'm feeling so depressed all of a sudden... :(
But then during the meeting, the Lord miraculously spoke to me through this verse that actually I don't have to feel sad/discouraged/depressed when things don't really go the way I wanted, especially in the doing of His work; because it is
He who will be doing
ALL the work and all I have to do is to trust in Him, faithfully carry out all that He has said and let Him do the rest. Since it was He who put me inside of NTU to do His will, He will definitely do it all the way and makes sure that He does it through His supervision.
So what else can I say? But to give thanks to Him!!! Thank You Lord Jesus! Thank You Heavenly Father for such an assurance! Blessing and honor and glory be Thine forever! Amen!
