Well, just had my mastering communications lecture a while ago.. It's one of the most interesting and light hearted lectures that I've been to since I first came into NTU... Maybe it's because it's a pass-fail so I am kind of like taking this module with a happier attitude towards it??
And well, I would like to share something about the lecture a while ago... Thought that it was quite an interesting topic that we've covered... It was on Perception and Self-concept. What I remembered vividly was that the lecturer showed us some pictures that had 2 types of picture within the same picture... There was the picture of the old woman and the young woman within the same picture; a couple viewing the sea and a baby; and also spotting a cow in a picture filled with black and white patches only... haha... and the whole lecture hall was at that point in time filled with "Huh?? Got meh?? Where?? Orh..." Haha... so funny... Well, the lecturer made use of these pictures to teach us about our perception towards things and how we can look at different things based on the perception process: selection, organisation and interpretation... Maybe I will talk more about it in future posts if I have the time... haha...
Then it was about self-perception and self-disclosure... about how we think badly about ourselves can become a vicious cycle leading to self-fulfilling prophecies... and that self-disclosure has it's plus and bad points... like being more aware of oneself, enhance communication, develop relationships etc.. and we also have personal, professional, and relationship risks with that..
And I thought what the lecturer said made quite some sense.. At least the things that she said can be found in me (and by right to most of you out there too :P). Haha... so in conclusion, after her lecture I do became more aware of myself... like what are the things that are running through my mind when I interact with my surroundings; how I can think and communicate with people better (hopefully)...
Haha... that's all for today folks :) Got to go now... :P To God be the Glory for all things that He has done for us :))
